Friday 30 March – Monday 2nd April, Welcoming Closed
The Welcoming will be closed on Friday 30th & Saturday 31st of March, as well as Monday 2nd April. This is for the public holidays over Easter weekend. There will be no classes or Creative Space activities on these days, but all sessions will restart on Tuesday 3rd April.
Tuesday 3 April, Table Tennis Tuesdays

Have you been along to our Table Tennis Tuesday sessions yet? These open and self-led ping pong sessions are a great chance to meet new people, and practise a new skill.

Wednesday 4 April, Scotland for Newcomers – Science Festival
Meet at The Welcoming at 12 – earlier than usual!
“Perception is one of the oldest and most deeply investigated topics in the field of psychology, and also raises some profound philosophical questions. It is concerned with how we use the information reaching our senses to guide and control our behaviour and to create our particular, subjective experiences of the surrounding world.” Join us this week for a Very Short Introduction to Perception at Edinburgh International Science Festival – this trip is earlier than normal, so please meet at The Welcoming at 12 noon. Did you make a New Years Resolution to be more active? We’re starting some new weekly gym sessions, which will help you discover gym facilities in Edinburgh and will be a good way to meet new people. You will need to bring £1, and wear comfortable clothes. All abilities welcome!

We will be visiting the Scottish Storytelling Centre for a very special StorySlam. The theme of the gathering is “Roots,” so join us to hear stories, and if you want you can also sign up to tell you real story in front of an audience! We invite you to come along and join us for a Welcoming Lunch after class on the 1st floor. We will have lunch from Pret A Manger!
Friday 6 April, English Conversation Cafe
Every Friday, 1.30 – 3.30pm, 1st floor at The Welcoming
Conversation Cafe is a great way to practise your English in a relaxed informal setting.
On Friday 6th April there will be a photographer joining us at the Welcoming lunch and Conversation Café. We will ask everyone for consent before taking any photos (and it’s no problem at all if you do not wish to be photographed)

Monday 16 April, Photo Safari
Join us at the Welcoming’s first-ever Photo Safari and learn how to use your smartphone to create great pictures to capture your Edinburgh experience! Come along on Monday 16th April for a walking tour of Edinburgh, where we will focus on learning how to make the best of our camera phones. We’ll meet at The Welcoming at 3pm or 3.30 at a central location to be confirmed. All welcome –bring your phone!
