As a charity and company limited by guarantee, The Welcoming Association is run by a team of dedicated volunteer Board members who come from a wide range of professional backgrounds.
Chair – Martha Fleming
Martha has many years working as a Finance Director in a corporate environment and after more than 18 years working in the whisky industry is now looking to change direction in her career. She has a strong focus on developing a portfolio of smaller business clients, helping them to develop and achieve their business strategy.
Anna Valeria Luciani
Valeria is an international HR consultant, trainer, facilitator and business coach
Amadu is an award-winning human rights journalist, international development educator, researcher and academic, and storyteller-performer artist.
Harish currently works for the University of Edinburgh as the Regional Manager for South and Central Asia, in the University’s International Office. He has 6 years of international experience having taught English in China, volunteered and worked with NGOs in Sub-Saharan Africa and is committed to helping refugees and migrants settle into the UK.
Carolyn is a retired social worker with over 40 years experience in the field. Previous roles have included team leader in the Children and Families Department in Edinburgh and manager of a service supporting refugees and asylum seekers in the city. She also has personal experience of living and working in another culture.
Sarah is a government statistician leading on surveys, communicating analysis and professional development, and co-founder of the Scottish Government EU Nationals Network. She has also been a very chuffed befriender at the Welcoming since 2017.
Sarah Miller Ralston
Sarah is an international development expert with experience in more than 25 countries supporting strategies and partnerships to fight poverty and injustice. She currently serves on the global senior management team for CARE International, responsible for working with teams and partners around the world on future trends, designing and transitioning to new business models, approaches to collaboration and alliances and strengthening organisational accountability. She has extensive experience working with migrant and refugee populations in the United States and in the Middle East.
Keith is a HR Consultant with over 25 years experience in employment law, training, HR policy, employee relations, diversity & inclusion, and coaching.
