Monday 30 April, Open Book Reading Group
10-12, 5th floor at The Welcoming
Join our Open Book Reading Group for a chance to share good books, discover new authors and gain confidence reading with others.
Monday 30 April, Friendship Group
Every Monday, 3-4.30pm- spaces must be booked
We have a couple of spaces available for our Friendship Group on a Monday afternoon. You must sign up for this session, and spaces are on a first come first served basis. This is a small, friendly and welcoming shared space where we will have conversation on a topic decided by participants on the day. If you are interested in attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by midday on Monday.
Monday 30 April, Cycling for Newcomers
Last Monday of the month, 1pm at The Welcoming
Join us for our monthly Cycling for Newcomers ride. This month we are going to cycle along the Water of Leith up to Heriot Watt campus, and back. It’s a beautiful cycle, mainly off roads, and through woodlands. If you have your own bike come and join us! If you would like to borrow a bike please email email@example.com
Monday 30 April, Jogging Group
Every Monday 6-7pm, meet at The Welcoming
We’re celebrating our first birthday! We invite all joggers past and present to join us for around a 45 minute run followed by a slice of birthday cake! This will be our last Monday night session, from next week Jogging Group will meet on Wednesday at 6pm at the Welcoming (staring Wednesday 2nd May). New joggers are always welcome, please email firstname.lastname@example.org first to let her know you’re coming and to indicate your level.
Tuesday 1 May, Welcome to Edinburgh
This Tuesday 1st of May is our monthly Welcome to Edinburgh session. If you’re new in the city or new at The Welcoming, it’s a great chance to get to know us, ask questions about life in Edinburgh and meet new people. Tuesday 1 May, Table Tennis Tuesdays
Every Tuesday, 5-7pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming
Have you been along to our Table Tennis Tuesday sessions yet? These open and self-led ping pong sessions are a great chance to meet new people, and practise a new skill.
Wednesday 2 May, Scotland for Newcomers – National Museum of Scotland
Meet at The Welcoming at 3pm or 3.45pm at the museum (EH1 1JF) inside the main entrance
Join us on Wednesday for a trip to the National Museum of Scotland to explore this very interesting building with a quiz!
Wednesday 2 May, Welcoming Choir
Every Wednesday, 7.20-9pm, Stockbridge Parish Church, Saxe Coburg Street
If you enjoy singing and meeting new people, the choir could be perfect for you! The Welcoming Choir is an international choir, based in the heart of Edinburgh, which brings together newcomers and locals to share and learn new songs together. No experience necessary, all welcome!

Do you enjoy playing music? Want somewhere to practice and people to jam with? Come along to our new weekly music drop-in session! We have a couple of instruments you can use, or bring your own.
Thursday 3 May, Gym Session
Every Thursday, 3-5pm, Meet at The Welcoming
Did you make a New Years Resolution to be more active? We’re starting some new weekly gym sessions, which will help you discover gym facilities in Edinburgh and will be a good way to meet new people. You will need to bring £1, and wear comfortable clothes. All abilities welcome!
Thursday 3 May, Mindfulness

Join us on Thursday afternoon for a beginners Mindfulness session.
Friday 4 May, Welcoming Lunch

Join us to share a great lunch from Pret a Manager, and meet new people!
Friday 4 May, Conversation Cafe
1.30-3.30pm, 1st floor at The Welcoming
On Friday 4th of May our Conversation Café will be visited by Crossed Paths of Europe, a group that explores what European identity is all about. You don’t have to be European to enjoy this session –as someone currently living in a European country, you will have a lot to talk about! This session is also an opportunity to hear how you can take part in their upcoming photography project and get a chance to show your pictures in Edinburgh and Sweden.
