Update of services (Covid-19)
Our face-to-face activities are temporarily suspended due to the pandemic. However, many of our activities have adapted to the situation and are now being run online. Check out our Timetable for details on our current online activities.
The Welcoming Sustainable Garden is part of our climate change project Welcoming a Greener Future, funded by the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF).
The community demonstration garden is located at Saughton Mains Allotments (Google Maps) and it offers a space where The Welcoming participants and volunteers can come together to learn about food growing, share green skills and food traditions from their home country, while spending quality time outside in nature.
The food harvest from the garden is shared among our community, as well as being used during our cooking sessions and events.
Activities currently on hold
The garden is developed and maintain by our very dedicated group of volunteers and it is set up to host a variety of activities, including:
- outdoor environmental English classes
- outdoor sustainable cooking
- seasonal gardening and green skills workshops
- small cultural gathering and events
