Saturday 24 November, Creative Writing at Creative Space
Every Saturday, 12-4pm on the 5th floor at The Welcoming
This Saturday at Creative Space we will be joined by one of our Conversation Cafe volunteers as he leads a session on creative writing. Come along to practise your English in a fun and relaxed way! No experience is necessary and all are welcome

Digital Skills for Arabic Speakers
These classes are delivered in Arabic and English and are a great way to gain confidence with using computers for email, internet, shopping, banking and creating all kinds of documents. Spaces are limited so please call the Welcoming office on 346 8577 or email [email protected] to book your place.

Join us every week as we discover new authors and stories together. This is a lovely way to meet new people and enjoy reading together.

Last Monday of every month, 1-4pm at The Welcoming
Join us for our last Welcoming bike ride of 2018! We will be cycling around the beautiful bike paths of Edinburgh and exploring new places. If you would like to come along, or would like to borrow a bike, please email [email protected]

Our weekly gym and swim session has a new day! We will meet at Leith Victoria at 3pm (there will not be a meeting point at The Welcoming), for our workout session! Join us to use the gym, or have a relaxing swim, for just £1.

Tuesday 27 November, Monoprinting Workshop
3-5pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming
We’re looking forward to our Mono-printing Workshop on Tuesday, where our volunteer Cat will be teaching us different techniques to make beautiful prints -we’ll even be using gelatin! We have different printing materials you will be able to use to create your unique pieces you can then use as greeting cards, wrapping paper or hang up on the wall. This workshop is free and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. For more info contact [email protected]
Tuesday 27 November, Games Night
Every Tuesday, 5-7pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming
Join us for our weekly games night on the 5th floor! We have a range of activities available, including table tennis, pool and a great selection of board games.
Wednesday 28 November, Scotland for Newcomers – Writer’s Museum
Meet at 3pm at The Welcoming or at the museum (EH1 2PA) at 3.45pm
Join us on Wednesday for a trip to The Writers’ Museum. We’ll find out about the interesting lives of three of the most famous Scottish writers: Robert Burns, Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson.
Wednesday 28 November, Jogging Group
6pm at The Welcoming
Are you a keen runner or want to get started? Join us for a gentle run from The Welcoming. New joggers are always welcome, please email [email protected] first to let her know you’re coming and to indicate your level. If you would like to join us but are worried about not having the right shoes/clothing come to the office to have a chat in confidence. We may be able to help!
Wednesday 28 November – Singing Group
Every Wednesday, 7.30-9pm at St Martins Community Resource Centre, 232 Dalry Road
Singing in a group is a fun way to practise English, meet new people and simply feel happier! Come along to our free and relaxed Singing Group every Wednesday at 7.30pm at St Martins Community Resource Centre, 232 Dalry Road. It’s a short walk from The Welcoming and you’ll have an opportunity to meet locals and newcomers while you sing together to some amazing tunes. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. Just pop by!

Thursday 29 November, Wee Blether
Every Thursday, 3.30-5pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming
Join our new weekly conversation activity, The Wee Blether! This is a chance to enjoy informal conversations within a small comfortable group. The session is run by volunteers Pirjo and Eva. There will be 8 spaces per week, but you don’t need to book in advance.

12.15-1.15, 1st floor at The Welcoming
Come along to the first floor and join us for a friendly, relaxed lunch. We will have a selection of sandwiches and salads from Pret, we look forward to seeing you all there!

Saturday 1 December, Fair Saturday at Creative Space
We’re delighted that our participant Angelo will be sharing his talents and skills with us at a very special Welcoming workshop part of the Fair Saturday celebrations. Angelo will be leading a session full of fun and games to help us connect with our inner artist. Expect singing, dancing and a lot of laughs! This workshop is free and open to people across the city.
