Join our Open Book Reading Group for a chance to share good books, discover new authors and gain confidence reading with others.

Monday 9 April, Information Session for Spanish Speakers
12-1pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming
All Spanish-speaking newcomers are welcome to join us Monday 9th April between 12-1pm for a special information session in Spanish. We’ll be joined by grassroots group Orgullo Migrante, who will tell us about how they help other Spanish-speaking residents access information on worker’s rights, housing and healthcare in the UK. This is an excellent chance to get information and ask questions en español. Nos vemos el Lunes!
Monday 9 April, Friendship Group
Every Monday, 3-4.30pm- spaces must be booked
We have a couple of spaces available for our Friendship Group on a Monday afternoon. You must sign up for this session, and spaces are on a first come first served basis. This is a small, friendly and welcoming shared space where we will have conversation on a topic decided by participants on the day. If you are interested in attending, please email [email protected] by midday on Monday.
Monday 9 April, Jogging Group
Every Monday 6-7pm, meet at The Welcoming
Do you want to meet new people, explore new places and be a bit more active? Our fun, free and friendly jogging group could be for you! This group is suitable for beginners, we will be starting slowly and building up each week. There will also be regular jogging for those who have run with us before. If it is your first time with the group you will need to register with Jog Scotland, you can do this online beforehand.

New in town or new at The Welcoming? Then come along this Tuesday 10th April at 12pm for our monthly Welcome to Edinburgh session. This is your chance to ask questions, get information about what Edinburgh has to offer and meet new people! For more info, contact Victoria.

Have you been along to our Table Tennis Tuesday sessions yet? These open and self-led ping pong sessions are a great chance to meet new people, and practise a new skill.
Wednesday 11 April, Scotland for Newcomers – Gallery of Modern Art
Meet at The Welcoming at 2pm, or at Modern 1 (EH4 3DR) at 3pm
Do you like nature? Do you like art? Join us on Wednesday for a walk along the river – “The Water of Leith” – to the wonderful Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Please note we will be meeting earlier than normal!

Did you make a New Years Resolution to be more active? We’re starting some new weekly gym sessions, which will help you discover gym facilities in Edinburgh and will be a good way to meet new people. You will need to bring £1, and wear comfortable clothes. All abilities welcome!

Friday 13 April, Conversation Cafe

Join our weekly Conversation Cafe to practise English in an informal setting with local volunteers. Each week we have a theme or topic to base our activities around – suitable for all English levels.

Monday 16 April, Photo Safari
Meet at The Welcoming at 3pm
Join us at the Welcoming’s first-ever Photo Safari and learn how to use your smartphone to create great pictures to capture your Edinburgh experience! Come along on Monday 16th April for a walking tour of Edinburgh, where we will focus on learning how to make the best of our camera phones. We’ll meet at The Welcoming at 3pm or 3.30 at a central location to be confirmed. All welcome –bring your phone!
