We are launching a new quarterly newsletter at The Welcoming and we would love for you to subscribe! What information will you receive? The newsletter includes updates on The Welcoming’s events, activities, salient political issues and how to get involved
The Welcoming’s Friendship project supports New Scots (refugees, asylum seekers and migrants) to overcome social isolation and build community in Edinburgh. Through one-to-one and group befriending activities, participants are empowered to develop new skills and share their knowledge with others.
The Scottish Government has produced Welcome Packs for New Scots. The packs are currently available in five languages: English, Russian, Dari, Ukrainian and Pashto.
The Welcoming’s health and wellbeing activities for New Scots will restart this month. Our programme supports New Scots (asylum seekers, refugees and migrants) in Edinburgh to look after their physical and mental health, and feel empowered to make personal wellbeing choices.
We are preparing to welcome and open our services to the new arriving Ukrainians. However, our experience shows that new arrivals need many things when they come to a foreign city, e.g. books for their children, clothing, etc., which puts additional financial pressure on our organisation. Therefore, we are asking you to lend your usual kindness and donate whatever you can through our LocalGiving.
