To apply to be a member of The Welcoming Association, please fill in the membership application form and email the completed form to [email protected]

Full Membership

A service user or a friend of The Welcoming who supports the aims and objectives of the Association can enjoy voting rights and influencing policies and strategies. Anyone with full membership statues can be elected to the Board after they have been members of the Welcoming Association.

Associate membership

A representative of a partner organisation of The Welcoming Association can become an associate member without voting rights.


Important persons of proven excellence and exemplary calibre in any field may be nominated as patrons of the association. Patrons may be invited to attend important events such as the Welcoming’s AGM, fundraising dinners, social gatherings. Patron’s background should also help to raise the profile of the association and its sustainability.    

Procedure for enrolment as a member

Any person who wishes to become a member must sign and lodge a written application for membership with the Association, subject to article 18.

The Directors may, at their discretion, refuse to admit any person to membership.

The Directors shall consider each application for membership at the first directors’ meeting, which is held after receipt of the application; the Directors shall, within a reasonable time after the meeting, notify the applicant of their decision on the application.

Termination of membership

Any person may be expelled from membership by special resolution (see article 34 of the Welcoming Articles of Association), providing the following procedures have been observed:

  • at least 21 days’ notice of the intention to propose the resolution must be given to the member concerned, specifying the grounds for the proposed expulsion; and
  • the member concerned shall be entitled to be heard on the resolution at the General Meeting at which the resolution is proposed.

Membership shall cease on death.

A member may not transfer his/her membership to any other person.
